The great state of Arizona has so much to offer to each and every visitor. There is something for everyone and tourists delight in the natural wonders of the desert terrain, the diverse wildlife, art galleries and museums.  Golf, trekking, desert motor sports and sun tanning are among this authors favorite things to do in Arizona.

But, there are also numerous other Arizona attractions and ample opportunity to go fishing, hiking or biking. Skiers and snowboarders will also delight in finding first class snow and ski resorts.  If you’re not a winter sports guy you’ll be thrilled with the numerous world-class courses for golfers to enjoy. It is just a bonus that Arizona is steeped in Western tradition and history (it was the frontier and Indian country way back when) and the rodeo offers an exciting day out for the entire family.

This part of the world is one of the most interesting landscapes and geologists come on field studies to marvel. One of the world's most visited landmarks is the Grand Canyon. This is, by far, the most famous of all Arizona attractions. Its scale cannot be appreciated on television; it has to be experienced for real. It can not be exaggerated. The rocky gorge, over 2 billion years old, has a beauty all its own with wonderful color. Guided tours are available and there are many vantage points to see the canyon. There are walking trails, offering plenty opportunities to see wildlife, and lots of adventurous people go white water rafting on the Colorado River. Some companies offer helicopter rides to get an eagle's view of the canyon.

Phoenix is the state capital and has a wide range of museums and other Arizona attractions. The Arizona Science Center presents shows in the planetarium and films on the five-story Imax Theatre screen. There are demonstrations on different subjects, such as electricity, magnetism and gravity. Exhibits include aerospace, weather and energy conservation. The center can be found in the Heritage and Science Park. Children enjoy going to Summer Science Camp, which is run by the center. One of the other Arizona attractions is the Heard Museum, a museum dedicated to Native American art and artifacts, including Hopi dolls and jewelry. The Phoenix Zoo has four sections divided into themes. There is the Africa Trail, the Tropics Trail and the Discovery/Children's Trail. The Arizona Trail contains local wildlife and native plants.

Tucson is the second largest city in the state and the Pima Air and Space Museum is one of the most impressive attractions in Arizona. It opened in 1976 and the collection includes more than 250 aircraft and artifacts from the USA and elsewhere, including military, civil and commercial. Some of the craft and objects are quite rare. Exhibits include World War II airplanes and the Air Force One plane, used by John F.Kennedy. The museum is located next to the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base.

Plus, you will be thrilled to know that Las Vegas is just a few short hours by plane or car. I hope you enjoy your trip to Arizona. Please let me know if you had a great time!
